the work is hard and often frustrating.

Saturday, November 21st from 2pm to 4pm Family Volunteer Day (Blossom
event)
**Things that went on this week** - please send me reminders of
accomplishments.
The Haunted Hotel was a triumph. Many a happy visitor exclaimed "It
was even better than last year". Under Fright Master Nels and Fright
Mistress Judy’s leadership, this year’s event met the goal of raising
enough funds to put a new roof on 9010C. The gross is $33,447.
This historic 1942 structure deserves a new roof for not only its
service during WW2 but it is the space engineers designed components for
the SCORE and TIROS satellites during the early days of the space race.
The creativity, the time and the effort invested in the frightful walk
through 9010D to 9010A and the Hay Ride was simply amazing.
Thanks go to many persons and groups:
First Nels and Judy Warren. And their understudy Matt for the fourth and
best year.
Thanks to Nels for making sure all safety inspections were done.
Thanks to Jeff H., for the excellent safety procedures briefing for all

Tom Hayes, fellow employees, friends and families did a very well
received rendition of 'thriller' in front of the firehouse;
In the ticket booth we had Kathy Richel, plus Nels’ sister and
brother-in-law, who provided a hand made bird house to for visitors to
win in a free drawing;
Bob J. of the GSC greeted the visitors in the gate house;
Steve Goulart passed flyers to visitors and resolved any and all issues;
OMARC provided refreshments outside of 9059;
Frank O'Brien purchased water for the thirsty actors
Blossom Int. has a jewelry tent;
Nels provided the wagons. Nels and Pete Richel were the main wagon
drivers.
Joe G., our trained and certified EMT was on hand each night just in
case of problems.
Thanks to Bob P. we had the electric outlets as needed.
Thank you to all who helped with the Haunted Hotel breakdown.
We made progress in other areas during the past two weeks:
An update from Ray Chase:
October 21
Present were: Al K., Ray C., Harry K. and Dave Snellman
Harry completed some more picture hanging devices and several more
framed portraits were hung. Dave and Ray picked up a small donation of
tubes, parts and TM’s from a retired Ft. Monmouth veteran in Eatontown.
Wallboard was removed from the interior of 9312 and the interior was
cleaned up. Continued sorting, cataloging and tagging accumulated items
for an electronics auction early in 2010.
October 28
Present were: Al K., Ray C., Harry K. and Dave Snellman
Harry completed some more picture hanging devices and more framed
portraits were hung. We now have 23 of the over 50 pictures mounted.
The pictures were inventoried to prepare a formal list of what we have.
Some stragglers are still out for framing. Continued work sorting,
cataloging and tagging accumulated items for an electronics auction
early in 2010. Continued sorting stuff in museum office area and
stocking a workbench.

Dave Sica and John Tyminsky delivered hundreds of Marconi blueprints, the "other half" of the collection which we already had at InfoAge. They also brought several dozen bound volumes of historic RCA publications for the NJARC library. All of this material was given to InfoAge by the David Sarnoff Library, with more to come.
-Blossom has a great 'Make a Difference Day. Thanks to the volunteers
for planing 300 bulbs around the hotel. They will bloom in the spring.
-We painted the hotel lounge with a final color. Looks nice.
-Thanks to our intern MaryRose we have a new great looking flyer.
-Remember Dan L. asks you to send articles for the next newsletter.
Deadline is Nov. 30th midnight.
-We primed a number of signs for future event signs. They are in the
basement.
-Matt Sampson has repainted the gate 3 sentry post. Wall DPW will move
it to the new pad Matt put in place by gate 2. This will earn Matt his
eagle award.
-Jamie G. is finished the work toward his Boy Scout eagle award by
setting up bunk beds in one of the DDU’s so we can host scout camp outs.
-Stanford University will be sending the DDU plans Paul Moore requested
copies of when he visited the Fuller archives.
-We have made excellent progress on the 9032 restrooms. Sinks working.
Floors painted. Next are new toilets and those salvaged historic WW2
urinals will go back into sanitary service.
-The NJ INDUSTRY FILM SCHOOL group has been using Camp Evans for film
instruction the past three weekends
-On the steam Zone valve - Lou R. has found that rebuild kits are
available. We will attempt to rebuild the motors this winter and replace
the valve bodies parts in the spring. - Lou R. is working up an estimate.
- Nels W. Pete R., Kyle B. and Bob W., mowed the whole place. Nels has
begun getting our snow removal equipment ready.
-Dave Sn. has a great idea for a Thankgiving - November fund raiser. A
driving tour and scare crow contest. Ideas and suggestion welcome.
-glass is replaced on the two windows in the hotel. Now I still just
need put them back in before the winter hits.
-Thanks to Fred Shay the NBHF inducted Richard Hurd at the Friends of
Old Time Radio convention.
-the Coast Star had a great story on our Fallout Theater in the Hotel
basement thanks to Jamie Biesiada
-Thank you to Joe G. for recycling the many boxes of old and unwanted PC
books.
-Thank you to Steve G. for sorting and preparing the recyclables.
-Norm and Ryan Lemonde are working to interest students to help us build
hands on exhibits;
-thank you to Larry Tormey, and John Truhan for taking the next steps in
getting ready to submit the CDBG paperwork;
-Thank you to Dan L. for preparing and submitting a grant application to
the Monmouth County Historical Commission to repair sill plate damage on
three of our WW2 wooden structures.
-Bob G. has made great progress on his Camp Evans history book. We have
made a down payment for its layout.
-I visited Congressman Smith;'s staff in Washington on Friday to present
our InfoAge progress. Katie Doherty has sent us funding request forms
to start working on.
This Sunday we had a good number of visitors. Some were good to our
donation jar.

Sn.in the Hall of Fame, Neil N., Bernie R., Dan & Terry L., Michele and
Bella R.
**Wall Police Dept as well as other towns are using the second

- Dan J. has the Computer education center ready open for business on
Sundays. *We have begun the announcement to the press - we have a draft.*
- Dan do you have another Video computer for Norm L. to set up a video
station?

The Haunted Hotel was well attended in spite of the bad weather. We
really need help this weekend. We are expecting a ton of people.
Please help.
The updated flyer is attached. We are half way to our goal of getting
the funds to put a new roof on 9010C. It was leaking as visitors were
going through.
An update from Ray Chase:
Fred:
On our October 14th workday we had present: Phil V., Al K., Harry K.,
Dave Snellman and Ray C. Our primary task was to clean up the A section
of 9032 in preparation for our Radio Repair Clinic on Saturday. A batch
of furniture was moved over to 9034 and boxed Bernie Martin items were
moved to 9006 for eventual sorting and disbursal. Set up tables and
generally cleaned up the place. Harry K. had completed 6 more picture
mounting devices for the museum and hung 4 more pictures. (he finished
some more and installed them on Saturday). Continued some work in our
program to ID recent donations to their sources. An ARQ-8 transmitter
(WWII "Spoofer") was brought in the add to John Cervini's collection of
EW items. Inspected and photographed 9115, an SCR-271 shelter/tower
base outside our perimeter that deserves to be moved and preserved.

-We also replaced the missing 9017 window and frame by salvaging one of
the same type. BRAC contractors tore out the original window – frame
and all.
-CACI has closed their Tinton Falls office. Thanks to Steve M. and Mike
R. we were able to select what furniture they left behind. Super Mike
G. and sons moved it all to 9034.
-Dan L. repaired the damaged shiplap siding on 9057. He has a salvaged
replacement ready to replace the missing door.
-Thanks to our intern MaryRose we met Bill Clarke of Communications H.S.
last week. He will be sending over a group to help as actors in our
Haunted Hotel.
-Dan L. asks you to send articles for the next newletter. Deadline is
Nov. 30^th midnight.
-Our fiscal year ended Sept. 30^th . We are working with our accountant
and the NPS on our report to the NPS on how we used our donations to
improve and maintain the historic district.
-Jamie G. is working toward his Boy Scout eagle award by setting up
bunk beds in one of the DDU’s so we can host scout camp outs
-thank you to whom ever fixed the lift cart. When one needs to lift
something just a bit too heavy, the hydraulic lift is a wonderful thing

Ray C's Report:
Present were Al K., Dave Snellman and myself. Per a request from Steve
G. we explored about a dozen buildings outside our perimeter to search
out possible toilet appliances that could be salvaged. We identified
several buildings with usable fixtures including sinks, mirrors, metal
stall partitions, etc. As a bonus we found 3 three good office tables
and several side chairs in dirty but good condition. These were
rescued, cleaned up and the tables will be used in our Mad Science
Halloween Lab. Suggest that the identified appliances be salvaged for
future needs.
The rest of the day was spent relocating equipment from the RTM museum
and storage space to the Halloween display area in the H building.

- Over the weekend we liberated four urinals, six sinks and various
hardware from the buildings that will be demolished. The fixtures are
for the 9032BC restrooms.
- Thanks to Mark C. and company we made progress in the 9032
restrooms. The old pipe is removed and the new lines are roughed in.
-Mary Rose, our Intern is still with us. She is working on improved
flyers, posters etc.
-We did the prime paint coat on 9017 as high as our ladders could
reach. Next we did the green paint. We hope to rent a lift to finish
the work.
- John B., has made even more improvements to our website. Note the
banner with information on the Haunted Hotel
-On the Zone valve - we need to get the hotel heat system zone values
repaired - Lou R. and Norm L. checked out the challenge. An internet
search shows Honeywell makes new steam zone valves. In now a case of
what to order and the cost.
- Nels W. Pete R., Kyle B. and Bob W., mowed the whole place. I saw
Bob on the Diana site yesterday. Pete made a great start at leaf
clean-up. If you like to mow - please talk to Nels. There is plenty
of grass to cut.
-The blank forms for membership cards arrived. I have to get the mail
merge form done. Terry L. has run into issues. We will keep at this.
-The scratch coast on 9006 is still done and the FINAL Report paperwork
was submitted for review was submitted just before midnight . Thank you
to Dan L. for scanning the form. We hope to apply to the Commission for
a grant for next year.
-All the American Legion requests for funds were mailed. Thanks to John
C., Dave Sn., Steve G.and others all 260 posts got a cover letter, a
selection of inserts in a stamped envelope.
-A note from Bill Mackanic of Cablevision: "Just wanted to let everyone
know the Vintage Computer story is airing now. Attached is the
schedule, hope you all enjoy it! PS- Congratulations on all of your

-The hotel sump pump was clogged with pine needles and leaves. It is
cleaned. Henry H. will be working on a cover for the hotel ramp to
reduce water going into the ramp area.
-Norm and Ryan L. have made a request of High Tech High students to
consider making an updated hands-on exhibit based upon an Explitorium
Cookbook design.

Ray C's Report:
Present were Al K., Dave Snellman and myself. Per a request from Steve
G. we explored about a dozen buildings outside our perimeter to search
out possible toilet appliances that could be salvaged. We identified
several buildings with usable fixtures including sinks, mirrors, metal
stall partitions, etc. As a bonus we found 3 three good office tables
and several side chairs in dirty but good condition. These were
rescued, cleaned up and the tables will be used in our Mad Science
Halloween Lab. Suggest that the identified appliances be salvaged for
future needs.

InfoAge Meeting, Wednesday September 22
Hello Everyone,
We will have a Wednesday work meeting this week - My day job has me in
Denville all day, again. Thursday is a Haunted Hotel work meeting.
Our Wednesday objective is to fold, label and put stamps on 260 requests
for $1000 from each American Legion in the state.
--Please bring a flash light and tools for a special recovery mission--

-The reimbursement funds from the county arrived - This is excellent.
-This past weekend InfoAge hosted a CouchSurfing.org weekend at the
cottage. There were visitors from five countries and all over the US.
They used InfoAge as a home base for day trips to Sandy Hook and Ocean
Grove. Everyone had a great time and they are planning on taking a trip
back for the Haunted Hotel. A special thanks goes out to Steve G, Fred C
and Dan L for giving them special tours of InfoAge.
-Nels, Judy, Laura Parker and husband, Rich M. Stacie S. and many other
crew members are working like crazy on the Haunted Hotel. Everyday the
exhibits are better and better.
-We filed for a electrical permit. We will be replacing the missing
EXIT signs in 9010B-D.
- We made progress in the 9032 restrooms.

River and the Marconi Building being used for bringing in liquor during
prohibition. Thus the name.
- John B., has made even more improvements to our website.

Evans Army History. ITT is helping.
-Felix L. visited to drop off a stack of Army technical manuals. He
showed us that Camp Evans was involved in photo interpretation from a
equipment and procedures development prospective.
- Dan L and the NJHDA along with Shore Aquatic Club members have cleaned
out all the debris from 9057, the WW2 two bay garage behind 9034. They
nearly filled a dumpster with broken sheet rock.
-Dave Sn. has a great idea for a Thankgiving - November fund raiser. A
driving tour and scarecrow contest. Ideas and suggestion welcome.
-I need someone to nag me to get the glass replaced on the three windows in
the hotel before the winter hits.

Community Center. On Thursday Larry T. and I will make a presentation
at the Ocean Twp. democratic club.
This Sunday we had the normally growing number of visitors, plus the

InfoAge Meeting, Wednesday August 26
Hello Everyone,
We are having a Wednesday meeting. Out goals are to label the
newsletters and clean the 9032B/C restroom for the plumbers to work.

Sept. 12 - 13th Vintage Computer Festival "VCF East 6.0" (Setup on September 11)
*Big News Items
1) Monmouth County Freeholders have awarded InfoAge $98,900 to repair
broken curbs and sidewalks for all visitor safety.
Thanks to Larry Tormey, Barb Ruane and John Truhan for all the work
preparing the application. This was a two year effort.
Larry T., Karen C., and I were at the Freeholders meeting when the grant
was approved. Larry did an excellent job of thanking all involved.
2) NJNG VISION volunteers returned on August 21st. - the 102 degree
equivalent day did not stop the progress.
Kathy and Shari had breakfast and lunch for the volunteers. Lynn L. B.
was the photographer
Larry T., Dave Sn., Al K., Kyle B., Steve G., and I were on hand to help.
The teams accomplished the following:
1. Mulched the flower beds around the Marconi Hotel (9001), and Cottages.
2. Inproved the drainage around both cottages by installing flexible
drainage pipe.
3. Painted the repaired sheet rock damage and nail pops in 9032 B/C
hallway and 9059
4. Added an Emergency Exit sign in 9059 - including going out to
purchase the sign.
5. Added 50 hostas, 25 Stella de'Oro day lilies to new new flowerbeds
along 9010.
6. Finished cutting the Monmouth Bl hedges.
7. Put mulch around the 9002 Marconi Road hedges
8. Painted 9400 - the McCarthy building
9. Painted 9029 including going out to get matching brown paint when the
supply ran out
10. Finished painting the firehouse 9031.
11. Scraped and repainted 9059 - the telephone exchange building
12. And, completely finished the entire Monmouth Bl. fence. What a
feat!! This group went wild. Wait to you see the photos of the 'tin
man' - silve from head to toe.
Thanks to NJNG, Larry Downs, Lynn L. B., Kathy O., Shari H. and Tom our
site never looked better.
3) The 9010A roof was repaired today and completely re-roofed with 30
year shingles. The water damage was worse than realized. Lots of
flashing repair and six areas needed new plywood.

Initially Al, Harry, Steve G., myself and Mike Golub met at 9 AM at
Bernie Martin’s storage module in Ocean to clean it out completely.
Steve G. and Mike had to go back for a second trip to finish it off.
Most of the stuff is photographic in nature and is now in a pile in the
A section of 9032. Steve G. is to do a quick sort and then get rid of
it on e-Bay.
Al and Dave continued on the task of cleaning out the “office” area in
the rear of the museum and reducing the clutter and better organizing
things.
Harry and Ray took down all the NBHF pictures and prepared them for a
trip to the framer who is in Gillete, NJ. Ray will deliver them and
coordinate with the framer.
Misc. repair and clean-up work was done.
The group toured the H building to survey the location of our Halloween
display.

A special thank you to Steve who has helped us out so many times in the past
two weeks that I've lost count. I haven't learned everyone's names yet but
many others have helped us too and it is always appreciated. The shelf that
was put together and placed in Blossom's inventory space was truly a gift,
thank you!
What We've Done at InfoAge so far:
Fashion Shop (scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday & Friday morning too) was
organized and run by Erica Rabinovitz who will be a junior this fall at
Manasquan High School and provided teens in foster care with free,
fashionable clothing and accessories.
Summer BackPack initiative assembled 70 backpacks filled with brand new
school supplies for children of all ages who will be attending school and
are currently in foster care and without the means to purchase supplies and
backpacks.
Blossom Shop had a meeting and is an initiative where youth create and sell
recycled and upcycled products to raise funds for philanthropy and community
service projects they want to take on. They are currently making Halloween
products for the upcoming Haunted Hotel & Hayride event. They have decided
that 50% of all proceeds from their sales at this event will be donated to
InfoAge and its subsidiaries. You can view some of their products at:

Make a Difference Day
Saturday, October 24th from 12pm to 3pm. On this day we expect to see about
300 youth and their families. They will plant trees on the InfoAge campus
as well as participate in various volunteer activities that have to do with
helping the environment. So far we will also have Project Porchlight
www.projectporchlight.com on campus to distribute free energy saving
lightbulbs. We will also be running a contest for kids (that begins next
week) to design the printed image that will appear on 250 grocery totes
which will be available at the event. Winners will get a tote bag with
their printed image that is filled with amazing green products. We'll also
be running a Capri Sun drive in partnership with TerraCycle
http://www.terracycle.net/ at this event. If you'd like to get involved in
anyway please let me know! Our first committee meeting is this upcoming
Thursday at 6:30pm at InfoAge and all interested are welcome to attend.
Family Volunteer Day
Saturday, November 21st from 2pm to 4pm. At this event we feature all of
our programs separately and introduce great ways that youth and families can
volunteer together. At this event we expect to see 200 youth volunteers and
their families. Each program will do the following: Care Pack will create
100 Care Packs, Juggling Life will provide instruction and workshops,
Children for Charity will provide various small projects for youth to
participate in and Cultural Education 4 Kids will provide a reading of
Sitti's Secrets as well as help volunteers write a letter to President

this years volunteer support. They gave us a nice donation for the use

We passed the final electrical inspection for the new heat in 9059.
NJNG will set the new meter this week.
Dave Sica delivered a van load of good tables he found on Craig's list
and transported to Camp Evans.
Al K. and Steve G. repaired the hinges on the 9010 main entrance. This
is a great security and safety improvement.
The guys, Nels, Pete, Kyle and Bob, mowed the whole place. If you
like to mow - please talk to Nels.
Architect Paul Moore has returned from Stanford University - Special
Collections. Paul has reviewed and requested copies of 14 pages of the
DDU plans they have on file. He has returned with the erection
instructions.
The permits are filed to repair the restrooms in 9032B/C using Rich
Grasso's plans. Mark C. will start this week. We also have a permit to
retire the 9059 above ground oil tank.
MARCH is getting ready for the next Vintage Computer Festival. Evan K,
Joe G. and company still at it. They have lots of new history posters
and more exhibits.
We sorted the recyclables. A pickup load of cardboard went to the
center. The plastic bottles are next.
The blank forms for membership cards arrived. I have to get the mail
merge form done.
The scratch coast on 9006 is still done. I have found the file to get
to work on the paperwork to apply for the balance of the grant.
We made a temporary repair to the fence. The Wall Little League parents
are cutting our fence to retrieve lost balls. We have spoken to the
head of the League. What an annoyance.
Scout Matt Sampson will paint the sentry post this week. The town DPW
will help him move it to gate 2 near where there was one during WW2.
Scout Tim Troppoli is nearly done with the Fallout Shelter theater.

Wall FD has offered us a 1965 Mac Fire Truck that was a Camp Evans
auxiliary engine for the Firehouse. When Nels gets back we will see if

first. We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular
activities increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional
grounds and buildings.
We are working to secure the remaining broken or missing doors. We need
more helpers on the 'H' building security. Steve G. can only get so
much done by himself.
We have to repair the three roof leaks that we suspect can be causing
structural damage in the 'H' buildings.

future in education and as a place to honor those who served. Thank you

Sept. 12 - 13th Vintage Computer Festival "VCF East 6.0" (Setup on September 11)
*Big News Items
1) Monmouth County Freeholders have awarded InfoAge $98,900 to repair
broken curbs and sidewalks for all visitor safety.
Thanks to Larry Tormey, Barb Ruane and John Truhan for all the work
preparing the application. This was a two year effort.
Larry T., Karen C., and I were at the Freeholders meeting when the grant
was approved. Larry did an excellent job of thanking all involved.
2) NJNG VISION volunteers returned on August 21st. - the 102 degree
equivalent day did not stop the progress.
Kathy and Shari had breakfast and lunch for the volunteers. Lynn L. B.
was the photographer
Larry T., Dave Sn., Al K., Kyle B., Steve G., and I were on hand to help.
The teams accomplished the following:
1. Mulched the flower beds around the Marconi Hotel (9001), and Cottages.
2. Inproved the drainage around both cottages by installing flexible
drainage pipe.
3. Painted the repaired sheet rock damage and nail pops in 9032 B/C
hallway and 9059
4. Added an Emergency Exit sign in 9059 - including going out to
purchase the sign.
5. Added 50 hostas, 25 Stella de'Oro day lilies to new new flowerbeds
along 9010.
6. Finished cutting the Monmouth Bl hedges.
7. Put mulch around the 9002 Marconi Road hedges
8. Painted 9400 - the McCarthy building
9. Painted 9029 including going out to get matching brown paint when the
supply ran out
10. Finished painting the firehouse 9031.
11. Scraped and repainted 9059 - the telephone exchange building
12. And, completely finished the entire Monmouth Bl. fence. What a
feat!! This group went wild. Wait to you see the photos of the 'tin
man' - silve from head to toe.

site never looked better.
3) The 9010A roof was repaired today and completely re-roofed with 30
year shingles. The water damage was worse than realized. Lots of
flashing repair and six areas needed new plywood.

InfoAge Meeting, Wednesday August 5

expecting $2700 in new tools and supplies from Home Depot for this.

***What I know of and can recall this past week***
We have discovered leaks in the 9010A roof. This is bad. It is the
last intact h-building section. The BRAC staff used it as an office so
they did not allow it to get fungus infested and kept the heat on so
they pipes did not burst. Two areas of sheet rock ceiling have fallen.
The H-section roof replacements are expensive - lots of area.
Evan Thompson has a high-end digital that can take RAW or TIFF images of
2000 x 3000 pixels. Sunday he began re-shooting photos.
BLOSSOM has begun moving into a Hotel office. Thank you Steve G. for
helping and suppling a key.
Something you will hardly notice - because it was done so well. John
B. has done a massive restructure of our website www.infoage.org. This
is an impressive feat that required script writing and testing. We have
1,500 web pages 8,500 files, documents and photos. We began our site in
1998. John removed lots of bloat code from the many html editors and
'new' web technologies over the years. Now our site is more
maintainable and we can take up the offer of help from others to add
content to our site.
Lisa of Greater Media contacted us and they have some ideas to help
us. She arranged a 30 minute interview on WJRZ with Mike Moran on his
Sunday Morning Show - 'Down the Shore'. It was fun.
Nels and Pete fixed our Torro mower for the price of the parts. It had
a clutch seize. Super Pete read the manual, removed the clutch and was
off to W.H.Potter and Sons to order the parts. Nels was in the middle
of this too. Thank you both. This saves us a ton. No towing costs to
the dealer...etc. You guys are great.
Architect Paul Moore will be visiting Stanford University soon. If we
can arrange access he will visit Green Library - Special Collections for
copies of the DDU plans they have on file. We hope they will allow
digital photography. This is excellent. Who better than Paul the check
out the plans. If they match our DDUs he will know.
We have two boy scouts working on plans to use the DDU for Boy Scout
camp outs.
We also began painting 9097, the foundry. Garden State Iron, a Butler
Buildings has estimated the roof repair will be $18,000. New plan
time. I am considering using the corrugated panels I saved when the
town made me remove by farm equipment shed.
Aggressive Mechanical is nearly done installing the new heat and A/C in
9059. The pressure test meter inspector was passed. Harry K. will
install the salvaged WW2 double doors in 9059 to enable us to move demo
equipment easily into the building for classes. Harry modified the wall
in the NBHF and it looks great.
We have fresh dumpster to fill. The BRAC well testers placed lots of
recyclables in the bin. I removed them. As you know we handle
recyclables and metals separately. We have a growing pile of metals to
recycle. A pickup truck of cardboard is recycled.
Bob P. got the first price for materials to redo the Diana site
electric. We are checking another supplier. This is based upon Rich B.
plan. We will file the permits soon.
Mark Casner has given me the papers to file the permits to repair the
restrooms in 9032B/C using Rich Grasso's plans. It is sad that Rich has
passed away. Once the restrooms are done we should have a thank you
ceremony.
Soon we have a follow up meeting for our 'Junk Bos wars". Mike G. made
the connection.
On Friday evening members of the Garden State Central met in the hotel
and the NJMT too. Thanks for policing the men's room. GSC gave us the
first donation from the soda machine proceeds.

Tobyhanna Army Depot. I know Al K. found stuff he liked. We still need

good. Nels works many hours keeping the site looking good. If you
like to mow - please offer him a hand.
We began painting the laser and radar experiment shed on the 4 story
tall 9178 platform. It is looking better. We repainted 9098 as well as
the sentry post 9155 near the Brookdale gate 3 entrance.
Scout Matt Sampson will relocate the to gate 2 near where there was one
during WW2.
Scout Tim T. found even more cold-war era fallout shelter supplies for
the 'Fallout Shelter' theater in Evans Shelter #1.
There was water in the hotel basement due to a clogged rain water
drain. I mopped up all I could and cleaned the drain. One of the NJNG
projects to to improve drainage behind the hotel.
Neil N. secured a bunch of Tyvek suits for the NJNG volunteers to
further the fence painting without getting the nasty aluminum coating on
their clothes.
Duting Sunday's rain storm we painted the last office in 9032A. We
vacuumed the downstairs and washed the restrooms.
This Sunday we had a reduced number of visitors. They were cheap - $5

Evan Thompson has a high-end digital that can take RAW or TIFF images of
2000 x 3000 pixels. Sunday he began re-shooting photos.
BLOSSOM has begun moving into a Hotel office. Thank you Steve G. for
helping and suppling a key.
Something you will hardly notice - because it was done so well. John
B. has done a massive restructure of our website www.infoage.org. This
is an impressive feat that required script writing and testing. We have
1,500 web pages 8,500 files, documents and photos. We began our site in
1998. John removed lots of bloat code from the many html editors and
'new' web technologies over the years. Now our site is more
maintainable and we can take up the offer of help from others to add
content to our site.
Lisa of Greater Media contacted us and they have some ideas to help
us. She arranged a 30 minute interview on WJRZ with Mike Moran on his
Sunday Morning Show - 'Down the Shore'. It was fun.
Nels and Pete fixed our Torro mower for the price of the parts. It had
a clutch seize. Super Pete read the manual, removed the clutch and was
off to W.H.Potter and Sons to order the parts. Nels was in the middle
of this too. Thank you both. This saves us a ton. No towing costs to
the dealer...etc. You guys are great.
Architect Paul Moore will be visiting Stanford University soon. If we
can arrange access he will visit Green Library - Special Collections for
copies of the DDU plans they have on file. We hope they will allow
digital photography. This is excellent. Who better than Paul the check
out the plans. If they match our DDUs he will know.
We have two boy scouts working on plans to use the DDU for Boy Scout
camp outs.
We also began painting 9097, the foundry. Garden State Iron, a Butler
Buildings has estimated the roof repair will be $18,000. New plan
time. I am considering using the corrugated panels I saved when the
town made me remove by farm equipment shed.
Aggressive Mechanical is nearly done installing the new heat and A/C in
9059. The pressure test meter inspector was passed. Harry K. will
install the salvaged WW2 double doors in 9059 to enable us to move demo
equipment easily into the building for classes. Harry modified the wall
in the NBHF and it looks great.
We have fresh dumpster to fill. The BRAC well testers placed lots of
recyclables in the bin. I removed them. As you know we handle
recyclables and metals separately. We have a growing pile of metals to
recycle. A pickup truck of cardboard is recycled.
Bob P. got the first price for materials to redo the Diana site
electric. We are checking another supplier. This is based upon Rich B.
plan. We will file the permits soon.
Mark Casner has given me the papers to file the permits to repair the
restrooms in 9032B/C using Rich Grasso's plans. It is sad that Rich has
passed away. Once the restrooms are done we should have a thank you
ceremony.
Soon we have a follow up meeting for our 'Junk Bos wars". Mike G. made
the connection.
On Friday evening members of the Garden State Central met in the hotel
and the NJMT too. Thanks for policing the men's room. GSC gave us the
first donation from the soda machine proceeds.
MARCH is getting ready for the next Vintage Computer Festival. Evan K,
Joe G. and company working like crazy - they will have four rooms open.
They have lots of new history posters and more exhibits.
Amanda W. made more progress the George Goubeaud papers. Nick S. was at
work Sunday sorting our dozens of Camp Evans historic drawings.
Nick R. continues the painting of the Monmouth Bl fence.
We have another proposal back for A/C for the hotel dining room. John
Cervini is leading this project.
The scratch coast on 9006 is still done. I have found the file to get
to work on the paperwork to apply for the balance of the grant.
We have to repair the fence. The Wall Little League parents are cutting
our fence to retrieve lost balls. We have spoken to the head of the
League. What an annoyance.
Thanks to Steve M. we had a delivery of communications equipment from
Tobyhanna Army Depot. I know Al K. found stuff he liked. We still need
to inventory the delivery.
Nels mowed the whole place. He also got the 'Camp Evans' Hill looking
good. Nels works many hours keeping the site looking good. If you
like to mow - please offer him a hand.
We began painting the laser and radar experiment shed on the 4 story
tall 9178 platform. It is looking better. We repainted 9098 as well as
the sentry post 9155 near the Brookdale gate 3 entrance.
Scout Matt Sampson will relocate the to gate 2 near where there was one
during WW2.
Scout Tim T. found even more cold-war era fallout shelter supplies for
the 'Fallout Shelter' theater in Evans Shelter #1.
There was water in the hotel basement due to a clogged rain water
drain. I mopped up all I could and cleaned the drain. One of the NJNG
projects to to improve drainage behind the hotel.
Neil N. secured a bunch of Tyvek suits for the NJNG volunteers to
further the fence painting without getting the nasty aluminum coating on
their clothes.
Duting Sunday's rain storm we painted the last office in 9032A. We
vacuumed the downstairs and washed the restrooms.
This Sunday we had a reduced number of visitors. They were cheap - $5
in the jar. On hand were: Steve G., Hary K. in the Hall of Fame, Neil
N., Evan K. Joe G., Dan & Terry L., Dan J., Don J. & nephew, JoAnne
B., Nels W., Nick S., Nick T. and others.

*Status:*
We are in Emergency Stabilization mode now. We are attacking worse
first. We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular
activities increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional
grounds and buildings.
We are working to secure the remaining broken or missing doors. We need
more helpers on the 'H' building security. Steve G. can only get so
much done by himself.
We have to repair the three roof leaks that we suspect can be causing
structural damage in the 'H' buildings.
