We are having a Wednesday meeting. Out goals are to label the
newsletters and clean the 9032B/C restroom for the plumbers to work.
The permits are in.

Sept. 12 - 13th Vintage Computer Festival "VCF East 6.0" (Setup on September 11)
*Big News Items
1) Monmouth County Freeholders have awarded InfoAge $98,900 to repair
broken curbs and sidewalks for all visitor safety.
Thanks to Larry Tormey, Barb Ruane and John Truhan for all the work
preparing the application. This was a two year effort.
Larry T., Karen C., and I were at the Freeholders meeting when the grant
was approved. Larry did an excellent job of thanking all involved.
2) NJNG VISION volunteers returned on August 21st. - the 102 degree
equivalent day did not stop the progress.
Kathy and Shari had breakfast and lunch for the volunteers. Lynn L. B.
was the photographer
Larry T., Dave Sn., Al K., Kyle B., Steve G., and I were on hand to help.
The teams accomplished the following:
1. Mulched the flower beds around the Marconi Hotel (9001), and Cottages.
2. Inproved the drainage around both cottages by installing flexible
drainage pipe.
3. Painted the repaired sheet rock damage and nail pops in 9032 B/C
hallway and 9059
4. Added an Emergency Exit sign in 9059 - including going out to
purchase the sign.
5. Added 50 hostas, 25 Stella de'Oro day lilies to new new flowerbeds
along 9010.
6. Finished cutting the Monmouth Bl hedges.
7. Put mulch around the 9002 Marconi Road hedges
8. Painted 9400 - the McCarthy building
9. Painted 9029 including going out to get matching brown paint when the
supply ran out
10. Finished painting the firehouse 9031.
11. Scraped and repainted 9059 - the telephone exchange building
12. And, completely finished the entire Monmouth Bl. fence. What a
feat!! This group went wild. Wait to you see the photos of the 'tin
man' - silve from head to toe.
Thanks to NJNG, Larry Downs, Lynn L. B., Kathy O., Shari H. and Tom our
site never looked better.
3) The 9010A roof was repaired today and completely re-roofed with 30
year shingles. The water damage was worse than realized. Lots of
flashing repair and six areas needed new plywood.
News from Ray C. and the Wednesday work group...
Present were Ray C., Al K., Harry K., Dave Snellman, Steve G., Steve R.
Initially Al, Harry, Steve G., myself and Mike Golub met at 9 AM at
Bernie Martin’s storage module in Ocean to clean it out completely.
Steve G. and Mike had to go back for a second trip to finish it off.
Most of the stuff is photographic in nature and is now in a pile in the
A section of 9032. Steve G. is to do a quick sort and then get rid of
it on e-Bay.
Al and Dave continued on the task of cleaning out the “office” area in
the rear of the museum and reducing the clutter and better organizing
things.
Harry and Ray took down all the NBHF pictures and prepared them for a
trip to the framer who is in Gillete, NJ. Ray will deliver them and
coordinate with the framer.
Misc. repair and clean-up work was done.
The group toured the H building to survey the location of our Halloween
display.

An update fom Michele of Blossom Int....
A special thank you to Steve who has helped us out so many times in the past
two weeks that I've lost count. I haven't learned everyone's names yet but
many others have helped us too and it is always appreciated. The shelf that
was put together and placed in Blossom's inventory space was truly a gift,
thank you!
What We've Done at InfoAge so far:
Fashion Shop (scheduled for this upcoming Tuesday & Friday morning too) was
organized and run by Erica Rabinovitz who will be a junior this fall at
Manasquan High School and provided teens in foster care with free,
fashionable clothing and accessories.
Summer BackPack initiative assembled 70 backpacks filled with brand new
school supplies for children of all ages who will be attending school and
are currently in foster care and without the means to purchase supplies and
backpacks.
Blossom Shop had a meeting and is an initiative where youth create and sell
recycled and upcycled products to raise funds for philanthropy and community
service projects they want to take on. They are currently making Halloween
products for the upcoming Haunted Hotel & Hayride event. They have decided
that 50% of all proceeds from their sales at this event will be donated to
InfoAge and its subsidiaries. You can view some of their products at:

Upcoming Large Events for Blossom at InfoAge:
Make a Difference Day
Saturday, October 24th from 12pm to 3pm. On this day we expect to see about
300 youth and their families. They will plant trees on the InfoAge campus
as well as participate in various volunteer activities that have to do with
helping the environment. So far we will also have Project Porchlight
www.projectporchlight.com on campus to distribute free energy saving
lightbulbs. We will also be running a contest for kids (that begins next
week) to design the printed image that will appear on 250 grocery totes
which will be available at the event. Winners will get a tote bag with
their printed image that is filled with amazing green products. We'll also
be running a Capri Sun drive in partnership with TerraCycle
http://www.terracycle.net/ at this event. If you'd like to get involved in
anyway please let me know! Our first committee meeting is this upcoming
Thursday at 6:30pm at InfoAge and all interested are welcome to attend.
Family Volunteer Day
Saturday, November 21st from 2pm to 4pm. At this event we feature all of
our programs separately and introduce great ways that youth and families can
volunteer together. At this event we expect to see 200 youth volunteers and
their families. Each program will do the following: Care Pack will create
100 Care Packs, Juggling Life will provide instruction and workshops,
Children for Charity will provide various small projects for youth to
participate in and Cultural Education 4 Kids will provide a reading of
Sitti's Secrets as well as help volunteers write a letter to President
Obama. You can find out more about each of our programs and what they do

On August 19th - Wall ROTC parents met in our dining room to discuss
this years volunteer support. They gave us a nice donation for the use
of the room.
No one wanted to go to the BlueClaws game so we gave the tickets to

****What I know of and can recall this past week*** *
Vladimir was back at work keeping the vines from climbing the buildings.
John B., has made more improvements to our website.
We passed the final electrical inspection for the new heat in 9059.
NJNG will set the new meter this week.
Dave Sica delivered a van load of good tables he found on Craig's list
and transported to Camp Evans.
Al K. and Steve G. repaired the hinges on the 9010 main entrance. This
is a great security and safety improvement.
The guys, Nels, Pete, Kyle and Bob, mowed the whole place. If you
like to mow - please talk to Nels.
Architect Paul Moore has returned from Stanford University - Special
Collections. Paul has reviewed and requested copies of 14 pages of the
DDU plans they have on file. He has returned with the erection
instructions.
The permits are filed to repair the restrooms in 9032B/C using Rich
Grasso's plans. Mark C. will start this week. We also have a permit to
retire the 9059 above ground oil tank.
MARCH is getting ready for the next Vintage Computer Festival. Evan K,
Joe G. and company still at it. They have lots of new history posters
and more exhibits.
We sorted the recyclables. A pickup load of cardboard went to the
center. The plastic bottles are next.
The blank forms for membership cards arrived. I have to get the mail
merge form done.
The scratch coast on 9006 is still done. I have found the file to get
to work on the paperwork to apply for the balance of the grant.
We made a temporary repair to the fence. The Wall Little League parents
are cutting our fence to retrieve lost balls. We have spoken to the
head of the League. What an annoyance.
Scout Matt Sampson will paint the sentry post this week. The town DPW
will help him move it to gate 2 near where there was one during WW2.
Scout Tim Troppoli is nearly done with the Fallout Shelter theater.

Wall FD has offered us a 1965 Mac Fire Truck that was a Camp Evans
auxiliary engine for the Firehouse. When Nels gets back we will see if
he is interested.
This Sunday we had one visitor for an oral history.
On hand were: Steve G., Bob B., Bernie R., Arron & Dave Sn., in the Hall
of Fame, Neil N., Evan K., Dan & Terry L., Dan J., Don J. Scott. Cicsly
F., and others.

Sundays. *Dan - we need to make an announcement for the press.*
- Dan J. invites you to his morning Landscaping & exercise class. He
was there this morning

We are in Emergency Stabilization mode now. We are attacking worse
first. We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular
activities increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional
grounds and buildings.
We are working to secure the remaining broken or missing doors. We need
more helpers on the 'H' building security. Steve G. can only get so
much done by himself.
We have to repair the three roof leaks that we suspect can be causing
structural damage in the 'H' buildings.
*** Many persons are working to help save Camp Evans and give it a
future in education and as a place to honor those who served. Thank you
to all.
*Reasons to tell persons why to donate (via check or PayPal) to our
effort NOW: *
1) Saves an incredibly historic site
2) Honors WWII Signal Corps and Honor Front veterans
3) Helps education by inspiring kids to learn science
4) Furthers the development of a NJ Shore tourist destination.
5) Will create full and part-time employment
6) Improves property values in the North Wall and Shark River area.
7) We are the White House recognized stewards of the Camp Evans Historic
District and now it is under our protection for future generations

InfoAge Meeting, Wednesday August 5

**August 7th and 21st NJNG VISION volunteer days at Camp Evans.
****HELP*** If you can help we need coordinators on Friday . We are
expecting 100 volunteers.
We will do final preparation during Wednesday's meeting. We are
expecting $2700 in new tools and supplies from Home Depot for this.
**August 19th - Wall ROTC parents meet in our dining room to discuss

***What I know of and can recall this past week***
We have discovered leaks in the 9010A roof. This is bad. It is the
last intact h-building section. The BRAC staff used it as an office so
they did not allow it to get fungus infested and kept the heat on so
they pipes did not burst. Two areas of sheet rock ceiling have fallen.
The H-section roof replacements are expensive - lots of area.
Evan Thompson has a high-end digital that can take RAW or TIFF images of
2000 x 3000 pixels. Sunday he began re-shooting photos.
BLOSSOM has begun moving into a Hotel office. Thank you Steve G. for
helping and suppling a key.
Something you will hardly notice - because it was done so well. John
B. has done a massive restructure of our website www.infoage.org. This
is an impressive feat that required script writing and testing. We have
1,500 web pages 8,500 files, documents and photos. We began our site in
1998. John removed lots of bloat code from the many html editors and
'new' web technologies over the years. Now our site is more
maintainable and we can take up the offer of help from others to add
content to our site.
Lisa of Greater Media contacted us and they have some ideas to help
us. She arranged a 30 minute interview on WJRZ with Mike Moran on his
Sunday Morning Show - 'Down the Shore'. It was fun.
Nels and Pete fixed our Torro mower for the price of the parts. It had
a clutch seize. Super Pete read the manual, removed the clutch and was
off to W.H.Potter and Sons to order the parts. Nels was in the middle
of this too. Thank you both. This saves us a ton. No towing costs to
the dealer...etc. You guys are great.

can arrange access he will visit Green Library - Special Collections for
copies of the DDU plans they have on file. We hope they will allow
digital photography. This is excellent. Who better than Paul the check
out the plans. If they match our DDUs he will know.
We have two boy scouts working on plans to use the DDU for Boy Scout
camp outs.
We also began painting 9097, the foundry. Garden State Iron, a Butler
Buildings has estimated the roof repair will be $18,000. New plan
time. I am considering using the corrugated panels I saved when the
town made me remove by farm equipment shed.
Aggressive Mechanical is nearly done installing the new heat and A/C in
9059. The pressure test meter inspector was passed. Harry K. will
install the salvaged WW2 double doors in 9059 to enable us to move demo
equipment easily into the building for classes. Harry modified the wall
in the NBHF and it looks great.
We have fresh dumpster to fill. The BRAC well testers placed lots of
recyclables in the bin. I removed them. As you know we handle
recyclables and metals separately. We have a growing pile of metals to
recycle. A pickup truck of cardboard is recycled.
Bob P. got the first price for materials to redo the Diana site
electric. We are checking another supplier. This is based upon Rich B.
plan. We will file the permits soon.
Mark Casner has given me the papers to file the permits to repair the
restrooms in 9032B/C using Rich Grasso's plans. It is sad that Rich has
passed away. Once the restrooms are done we should have a thank you
ceremony.
Soon we have a follow up meeting for our 'Junk Bos wars". Mike G. made

On Friday evening members of the Garden State Central met in the hotel
and the NJMT too. Thanks for policing the men's room. GSC gave us the
first donation from the soda machine proceeds.

They have lots of new history posters and more exhibits.
Amanda W. made more progress the George Goubeaud papers. Nick S. was at
work Sunday sorting our dozens of Camp Evans historic drawings.
Nick R. continues the painting of the Monmouth Bl fence.
We have another proposal back for A/C for the hotel dining room. John
Cervini is leading this project.

drain. I mopped up all I could and cleaned the drain. One of the NJNG

Neil N. secured a bunch of Tyvek suits for the NJNG volunteers to
further the fence painting without getting the nasty aluminum coating on
their clothes.
Duting Sunday's rain storm we painted the last office in 9032A. We
vacuumed the downstairs and washed the restrooms.

***What I know of and can recall this past week***
First a request. Does anyone have a high-end digital that can take RAW
or TIFF images of 2000 by 3000 pixels? The NPS has requested we
resubmit our current site photos for the expanded historic district. I
submitted JPGs. I just need to take about 25 photos. I would rather
not purchase a new camera for $500 +++. Call me if you can help.
Good News the not-for-profit BLOSSOM is joining InfoAge for a six month
trial. This new group has much to offer the community. Working at
InfoAge will be good for all our groups.
The NJARC swap meet on Saturday was a great success. Pasting in an

On Sunday Rob F. and son, Bob S. and others had a military field radio encampment to show visitors how radio got the message through. Thanks to Nels for the use of the camo nets.

Lisa of Greater Media contacted us and they have some ideas to help us.
Our Torro mower had a clutch seize. Not good. Super Pete read the
manual, removed the clutch and was off to W.H.Potter and Sons to order
the parts. Nels was in the middle of this too. Thank you both. This
saves us a ton. No towing costs to the dealer...etc. You guys are great.
Steve G., Dave Sn. and Dan J. investigated the crushed DDU in the woods.
We hope to salvage more sample parts.
We have a request filed with the Stanford University Green Library -
Special Collections for copies of the DDU plans they have on file.

We have finished repainting all the DDUs on our area this weekend.
Thank you to Kyle for cleaning the trash out of them in spite of killer
bees. We also began painting 9097, the foundry. We have asked Garden
State Iron, a Butler Buildings dealer to see if the metal foundry roof
can be repaired or needs complete replacement.
We also started cleaning the clogged gutters on the H-buildings. This
weekend we cleaned 660' on 9010, 460' on 9011, 400' on the hallway
exterior and 200' on 9037.
Aggressive Mechanical is nearly done installing the new heat and A/C in
9059. The pressure test meter is on the gas piping and we hope to have
an inspection tomorrow. If anyone is into carpentry we can now install
the salvaged WW2 double doors in 9059 to enable us to move demo
equipment easily into the building for classes.
We have another dumpster filled with debris. Wall DPW will empty and
return it this week. We have a growing pile of metals to recycle. We
brought the bottles and cans to the recycling center this week.
Cardboard is next. Thank you to Steve G. for removing all the Swat Meet
trash.
In 9032B Bob P. fixed a shocking electric problem with an attic
illuminated light switch. He also hung the replacement florescent
fixtures in 9032C men's room and a room MARCH will use for vintage
computer displays.
Thanks to Mike G. for making the connection and the Neptune H.S.
Principle Mr. Allen we will host a "Junk Box Wars" style this fall.
Steve G. and I attended a planning meeting during the week.
On Friday evening members of the Garden State Central met in the hotel
and the NJMT too. Thanks for policing the men's room. GSC gave us the
first donation from the soda machine proceeds.
MARCH is getting ready for the next Vintage Computer Festival. Evan K,
Joe G. and company are really making progress. They have lots of new
history posters and more exhibits.
Amanda W. made more progress the George Goubeaud papers. Nick S. is
sorting our dozens of Camp Evans historic drawings.
Nick R. continues the painting of the Monmouth Bl fence.
We have another proposal back for A/C for the hotel dining room. John
Cervini is leading this project.
The scratch coast on 9006 is still done. I have to get to work on the
paperwork to apply for the balance of the grant.
We have to repair the fence. The Wall Little League parents are cutting
our fence to retrieve lost balls. We have spoken to the head of the
League. What an annoyance.
Dan L. removed the last of the nails from the salvages shiplap siding
for 9017 and other needed repairs. If you ave back carpenter skills and
what to help repair the siding issues on the WW2 era wood buildings let
me know.
Plumber Mark Casner has the 9032 rest room plans Rich Grasso prepared
for us. Mark has spoken to our building inspector to get the permits
filed so we can get the restrooms in use. It is a sad thing that Rich
suddenly passed away.
Thanks to Steve M. we had a delivery of communications equipment from
Tobyhanna Army Depot. I know Al K. found stuff he liked. We need to
inventory the delivery.
This Sunday we had a good number of visitors. They were very interested
and stayed long. On hand were: Steve G., Dave Sn. in the Hall of Fame,
Neil N., Joe G., Bernie R., Bob B. Dan & Terry L., Dan J., Don J. &
nephew, Cicily F., Nels W., Pete R., Nick S., Amanda W., Norm L.and
son, Al K., Rob F and son,others.
Rich B. is working with Bob P. on the Diana site electrical
improvements. We are almost ready to file permits. Cost estimates are
underway.
- Dan J. has the Computer eduction center ready open for business on
Sundays. *Dan - we need to make an announcement for the press.*
- Dan J. invites you to his morning Landscaping & exercise class. He
was there this morning

We are in Emergency Stabilization mode now. We are attacking worse first.
We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular activities
increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional grounds and
buildings.
We are working to secure the remaining broken or missing doors. We need
more helpers on the 'H' building security. Steve G. can only get so
much done by himself.
We have to repair the three roof leaks that we suspect can be causing
structural damage in the 'H' buildings.
We have two boy scouts working on plans to use the DDU for Boy Scout
camp outs - they are big metal tents designed by Buckminster Fuller.
*** Many persons are working to help save Camp Evans and give it a
future in education and as a place to honor those who served. Thank you
to all.
*Reasons to tell persons why to donate (via check or PayPal) to our
effort NOW: *
1) Saves an incredibly historic site
2) Honors WWII Signal Corps and Honor Front veterans
3) Helps education by inspiring kids to learn science
4) Furthers the development of a NJ Shore tourist destination.

7) We are the White House recognized stewards of the Camp Evans Historic
District and now it is under our protection for future generations

InfoAge Meeting, Wednesday July 22
Hello All,

July 25th - NJARC Swap Meet at the cottages.

tickets - First come -first serve. Enjoy a fun evening and help us
market InfoAge.
***This past week and in the recent past*** - So much is going on - I
can not keep up.!! **Please email me stuff I miss as I rush to get this
out***
Our July 11th - 95th Marconi Belmar Station Anniversary and Preserve
America Stewards party for us was a fun event. We gave out our
localized version of the Preserve America Stewards certificates to those
who ride mowers, weed flower beds, greet guests, give seminars, create
exhibits, research our history, paint, repair, find things we can reuse,
advocate our cause, curate our artifacts, etc etc. A copy is
attached. Note the symbols around Mr. Marconi and the look back at the
Royal Order of Sputnik Chasers. If you did not attend our gathering on
the 11th I hope to give you your copy when I see you. A big thank you
to Mike G. and Steve G. who provided all the great food. I hope we can
do this again in September.
I caught Vladimir K. out twice recently eliminating the weeds and vines
that get out of control.
Nels and Pete have the site looking great. It is amazing the time and
talent these gentlemen donate to keep Camp Evans looking better and better.
Dan J and Don J. have reused two salvaged display cases to improve their
computer deconstruction exhibit.
Steve G. discovered a crushed and partly buried Buckminster Fuller
designed DDU in the woods.
Ken C. and Bob of Wall Public Works sent a backhoe over to dig it out.
We have already salvaged some excellent parts to help us restore the
DDUs under our stewardship.
We have a request filed with the Stanford University Green Library -
Special Collections for copies of the DDU plans they have on file.
We have repainted 2 and 1/2 DDUs this weekend.
We saved 20% on Home Depot Bear Paint by ordering 50 gals at once.
OMAR repainted the sentry post and TIROS Dish utility building. Both
were repaired by eagle scouts nearly four years ago. Thank you gents.

equipment entrance. This will eliminate the rain backwash problem and
will allow us to bring in large equipment for seminars and classes.

his eagle award. Under Steve G's guidance he did a great job. When you
check out the path note to colored concrete path markers.

Tim T. and family found a great cache of coldwar fallout shelter
artifacts to enhance the fallout shelter theater he is nearly done with
in our real fallout shelter #1 in the hotel basement.
Dan L. removed lots of nails from the salvages shiplap siding for 9017
and other needed repairs. If you ave back carpenter skills and what to
help repair the siding issues on the WW2 era wood buildings let me know.
Plumber Mark Casner has the 9032 rest room plans Rich Grasso prepared
for us. Mark has spoken to our building inspector to get the permits
filed so we can get the restrooms in use.
Dan L. reminds us Newsletter are due midnight July 31st or he will fill
the space with NJHDA news.
Bernie R. saved some great additions to our library. Included are some
excellent WW2 era Signal Corps photos
This Sunday we had lots of visitors: On hand were: Steve G., Neil N.,
Bernie R., Bob B. Dan L., Dan J. DJ., Don J., JoAnne B., Frank O., Nels
W., Ray and Edith Chase, Nick S., Amanda W., Norm L.,others.
Rich B. is working with Bob P. on the Diana site electrical
improvements. We are almost ready to file permits. Cost estimates are
underway.
- Dan J. has the Computer eduction center ready open for business on
Sundays. *Dan - we need to make an announcement for the press.*
- Dan J. invites you to his morning Landscaping & exercise class. He
was there this morning

We are in Emergency Stabilization mode now. We are attacking worse first.
We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular activities
increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional grounds and
buildings.
We are working to secure the remaining broken or missing doors. We need
more helpers on the 'H' building security. Steve G. can only get so
much done by himself.
We have to repair the three roof leaks that we suspect can be causing
structural damage in the 'H' buildings.
We need to begin repainting the metal DDUs to protect them from further
rust damage. Thank you to Dave Snellman and Dan Jacobs. for stepping up
to lead the DDU repairs.
We have two boy scouts working on plans to use the DDU for Boy Scout
camp outs - they are big metal tents designed by Buckminster Fuller.

future in education and as a place to honor those who served. Thank you

Preserve America Stewards party for us.*
We will take some time to enjoy the moment (some food too) and reflect
on our good work.
Relax on the Piazza, recline in the lounge, simply enjoy a cool summer

First what a week!!!
Thanks to Ray C., Al K, and Evan K. we had two tables promoting InfoAge
and Camp Evans at the Fort Monmouth Celebration on July 1st and 2nd.
On the evening of July 1st the Wall Township Committee met at InfoAge
for a public meeting.
We made a short presentation thanking them for their support. We also
stressed the public benefit InfoAge is bring to the community.
The "InfoAge Progress and Accomplishments" summary we gave to the
committee is attached.
On July 3rd we promoted InfoAge at the Wall Township Day. Thanks to Nels
W. and Dan Janquitto we had the the DUKW, aka the DUCK, at the event to
draw attention to InfoAge.
We meet lots on families thanks to Pete R. (the Mommy magnet), Nels,
Steve G. and Mike G. Nels and Pete have traveling shows down to a
science.
Thanks to the Wall Police for the DUCK escort to and back from Town Hall.
Frank O. made a new and much improved entrance sign with formica and
Skika vinyl letters. It looks great.
Vladimir K. and were back at work attacking weeds and poison ivy - 9017
looks better already. Vlad was out again on Tuesday morning.
Dan Jacobs captured lots of photos of the Car Show. John Brown posted
them to Flicker under the Infoage tag.
Dan Jacobs, DJ and Kyle cleaned up the DDU by 9013.
Joe G. set up an HP1100 printer upstairs. An new toner cart is on order.
Nels W., Pete R. and Bob W. mowed and weed wacked everything. Bob W.
mowed the Diana / TIROS site. We all are proud of how good the site
looks.
Pete replaced a troublesome ignition switch on our big mower.
Aggressive Mechanical has begun installing the new heat and A/C in 9059.
Thanks to Neil N. for the help moving my old 220V air compressor into
the 9059 utility room. This will enable us to replace the leaking
sprinkler system valve.
Eagle scout Matt is working on the path from 9003 to 9004/5 to earn his
eagle award. He is working with the 1914 Henderson Photos to
approximate the wireless operators path to their desks. Under Steve G's
guidance he is nearly done.
On Friday evening members of the Garden State Central met in the hotel.

Thanks to Phyllis H. for getting us the latest Camp Evans survey to make
copies. Matt Z. is helping us stack out the property line between us
and Brookdale to install our security fence to keep the 'TOP SECRET'
look of our historic district.
Thanks to Wall DPW for patching a few annoying pot-holes with leftover
asphalt patch.
Thank you to Al K. and Harry for getting the last lock on 9059
lock-able. Steve says it was a major pain.

only color photos of the TIROS disk we have seen. Plus photos inside
9162 of the equipment to track the Russian Lunar Probe.
The 'U.S. ARMY" and "SIGN*AL COR*PS" signs will be re-lettered by Dan L,
the replacement signs are in place. Dan was only able to put the letters
'*AL COR*" before the lift company can to pick up their unit. The
Glendola Fire Company has a bucket truck to help. We need to get the
fire commissioner's OK.
Nick R. cut the vines and brush growing near 9013.
One of the Two A/C contractors who visited the dining room has an
estimate ready for us on Thursday at 11:30AM. We have one estimate in
from Matt's Plumbing. John Cervini is leading this project.
The scratch coast on 9006 is still done. I have to get to work on the
paperwork to apply for the balance of the grant.

- The IEEE New Jersey Coast - Technical Talk - Real-Time Spectrum
Analysis by Alan Wolke & Scott Zederbaum, Tektronix Corporation had 30
plus attendees
Scott and Alan's presentation of the amazing information one can see
we the new generation of scope was excellent.
Howard Vollium, the founder of Tektronix Corp., who worked at Camp
Evans during WW2, would be pleased the progress his company has made in
the state of the art.
Mr. Vollium was an IEEE director during the 1950s.
Thank you to Dru R.and the New Jersey Coast IEEE chapter for the Pizza.
-Nels W., Pete R. and Bob W. mowed and weed wacked everything. Bob W.
mowed the Diana / TIROS site. The site looks great for the car show.

The contractor is doing a better job than imagined. These guys really

for special events.

- Yesterday - our application to add to our historic district was heard
in Trenton, NJ. by the State Review board. Thanks to Bob Craig the
application was approved.
I had a few items to answer for, but we got enough yes votes to pass.
The road behind 9037, the building 9013, 9017 and 9087, the Marconi
Mast Anchor at the corner of Monmouth and Watson were added to our
historic district. This will help us gain funds to preserve the structures.
A triangular area behind the H-buildings that was once ours and was
transfered to Brookdale is now removed from the register. This saved
Brookdale the Section 106 process.
- We have are 3/4 ths done with the prime coat 9034 which measures 60'
by 100'. We made some progress in spite of the rain.

- Steve G. fixed the door stop on the 9093 - gate one guard house
entrance door. This is a small thing, but a big help. We do not have
to hold the door open with boards or bricks. Much nicer.
- Dan L. and Neil N. have made great progress on the getting the sunken
ship heat exchanger ready to add to the NJHDA exhibit at InfoAge. The
fabricated a rolling stand and are painting it.
- We cleared out the utility room in 9059 so the heating contractor can
get to work in a clear room.
- We sorted lots of stuff in the 'Let's put it here for now' rooms in
9032C. We have th potential of adding at least six more exhibit rooms.
I piled some items in 9032A and will be asking you do we need this?

- Yesterday - our application to add to our historic district was heard
in Trenton, NJ. by the State Review board. Thanks to Bob Craig the
application was approved.
I had a few items to answer for, but we got enough yes votes to pass.
The road behind 9037, the building 9013, 9017 and 9087, the Marconi
Mast Anchor at the corner of Monmouth and Watson were added to our
historic district. This will help us gain funds to preserve the structures.
A triangular area behind the H-buildings that was once ours and was
transfered to Brookdale is now removed from the register. This saved
Brookdale the Section 106 process.
- We have are 3/4 ths done with the prime coat 9034 which measures 60'
by 100'. We made some progress in spite of the rain.
- Dan J. has the Computer eduction center ready open for business on
Sundays. Dan - we need to make an announcement for the press.
- Dan J. invites you to his morning Landscaping & exercise class.
-On Friday evening members of the Garden State Central met in the hotel.
- Steve G. fixed the door stop on the 9093 - gate one guard house
entrance door. This is a small thing, but a big help. We do not have
to hold the door open with boards or bricks. Much nicer.
- Dan L. and Neil N. have made great progress on the getting the sunken
ship heat exchanger ready to add to the NJHDA exhibit at InfoAge. The
fabricated a rolling stand and are painting it.
- We cleared out the utility room in 9059 so the heating contractor can
get to work in a clear room.
- We sorted lots of stuff in the 'Let's put it here for now' rooms in
9032C. We have th potential of adding at least six more exhibit rooms.
I piled some items in 9032A and will be asking you do we need this?
-The scratch coast on 9006 is still done. I have to get to work on the
paperwork to apply for the balance of the grant.
-This Sunday we had 20 visitors: On hand were: Steve G., Neil N., Dan
L., Dan J. Don, Harry K., Phil V., Arron and others.
- Board of Trustees Bob G. sent a letter to various defense contractors
asking for help in publishing his History of Camp Evans Book.
- Next Board of Trustees meeting is July 20th at 4PM
-John B. continues improving the structure of our website. He added a
scrolling banner on the front page - noting the Car Show was Postponed
to this Saturday.

systems visit on Tuesday to prepare a bid.
This will help us meet the ITT grant goal of AC in the hotel dining
room. A second company is visiting Friday. John C. is heading up this
work.
- We have to get the electrical work at the Diana site going. Yes, it
is raining....

Nels is requesting help with the Car Show. It is an "INFOAGE EVENT." Nels and Pete are in high gear getting ready for the show THAT EVERYONE BENEFITS BY LIKE HALLOWEEN. He needs the following.
June 23rd - our application to add to our historic district is heard in Trenton, NJ.
July 1st - 7 PM - The Wall Township Committee meets at InfoAge.
August 20th - Monmouth University Day @ the BlueClaws - We have 50 tickets - First come -first serve. Enjoy a fun evening and help us market InfoAge.
Status:
We are in Emergency Stabilization mode now. We are attacking worse first. We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular activities increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional grounds and buildings. We are working to secure the remaining broken or missing doors. We need more helpers on the 'H' building security. Steve G. can only get so much done by himself. We have to repair the three roof leaks that we suspect can be causing structural damage in the 'H' buildings. We need to begin repainting the metal DDUs to protect them from further rust damage. Thank you to Dave Snellman for stepping up to lead the DDU repairs.

“The History & Development of Electronic Warfare” - A Technical Tutorial by Mr. John Cervini, in Bldg. 9059 was well attended and great. John has such an in depth knowledge of this subject.
Nels W., Pete R. and Bob W. mowed and weed-whacked everything. Bob W. mowed the Diana / TIROS site. The site looks great for the car show.
Mike G. cleaned the entire parking lot with a back-pack leaf blower.
We cleared new vine growth by 9011C and D to make the area look nice for the car Show.
Ray Chase represented InfoAge at the IEEE Microwave Society Convention in Boston this weekend. He set up a display and gave a talk. Dru R. says the display was great, Ray was great and he made us proud.
Matt is working on the path from 9003 to 9004/5 to earn his eagle award. He is working with the 1914 Henderson Photos to approximate the wireless operators path to their desks. Under Steve G's guidance he is making good progress.
This Sunday we implemented our new entrance flow using the gate one guard house entrance.
Thank you to the NJARC for cleaning the gate one guard house - 9093. It looks great. Al Klase made an excellent colorful 'You are Here' map with possible museums or exhibits to see.
Dan L. installed the signs he made and lettered to point visitors to our offerings. Thank you to Dan L. for his leadership on this project. It has resulted in a burst of improvements.
At the Diana / TIROS site the TLM-18 satellite tracking antenna is nearly done. It looks great. The 'U.S. ARMY" and "SIGNAL CORPS" signs will be re-lettered by Dan L. on replacement signs. This work is enabled by the grant the Harris Corporation gave us. The contractor is doing a better job than imagined. These guys really want to do a quality job.
Dan L. installed four pulleys to enable us to hoist banners and flag for special events.

We liberated several hundred feet of Pattern 105 wood siding from WW2 buildings that will be demolished. This is needed to repair the damage to the firehouse 9031) , 9029, 9017 and 9034 by the BRAC contractors hitting the siding with backhoes and loaders. Also, some siding rotten from not being painted for 20 years.
We were contacted by a film maker whose grandfather, Dr. Eduard Gerber, was a member of Operation PaperClip. On July 12th she will be visiting to do interviews..
Dan L. Breeze radio ad is on the air - it sounds great - we had results this weekend and we expect more.
This Sunday we had a a great force of volunteers on hand: On hand were: Steve G., JoAnne B., Cecily F., Neil N., Dan L., Dan J. Don, Harry K., Phil V., Evan K., Joe G., Arron and others.
On Monday evening Phil V. and others hosted a boy scout troop visit.
On Monday the Board of Trustees met. The next meeting is July 20th at 4PM
John B. keeps improving the structure of our website. Our site is massive with lots of content. A number of published works by professional historians have cited out site as a reference. Over 11 years of various web page editors has made ugly html code. John is writing scripts to fix lots of problems. He is even fixing some of my special spelling. Thank you!!
This evening Mike G. and I attended and spoke at a Shark River Dredge Hearing held by Senator Sean Kean, Assemblyman Dave Rible, and Assemblywoman Mary Pat Angelini. Our goal was to make sure someone spoke out on the potential impact the expanded project would have on Camp Evans. We gave the Senator and Assembly persons info and newsletters.
While in Washington DC for my regular job I visited the office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. I dropped off recent info and newsletters. Their attorney, Elizabeth Merritt and Roger McLaughlin saved our effort back in 2004 when BRAC threatened to auction the historic district to developers.
We may have found a company that specializes in the high-pressure air-conditioning systems. This will help us meet the ITT grant goal of AC in the hotel dining room. I have asked for an estimate. We need to schedule a visit.

- Help with the public admission booth, 3. Help with InfoAge information, tours, guides, general information.

- Help with the "Hayride" if he does it, basically a tour guide.
