Great events - Good Progress - Great press coverage
-----------------------------
1) The NJARC auction was excellent. Many radio items of which we have
duplicates of or do not have room to store have found new homes with
persons who will care for them. Hopefully, they will become family
collectibles. Much work was needed by many persons to make the auction
a success. First, thank you to Ray Chase for his leadership, his team
and the Estes Brothers. Ohio residents, Richard and John Estes, once
again drove to NJ to donate their expertise as professional auctioneers
to help us along. Thank you to Ray & Edith, Toby was in the kennel,
John D. and Steve R. were at the front table, Marsha S. and Edith were
at the check out table. A number of persons helped set up the room,
helped prepare the auction lots and with the auction itself. Forgive me
for omissions, I recall seeing Dave S., Richard L., Steve G., Sal, Aaron
and others running about. Food was arranged by Mike G. via our friends
at the Country Kitchen. Ray, does not have a final number yet, but he
keeps teasing me with emails with a number around $6,000. Thank you,
we can use the money...

2) Congratulations to Dan L. and a thank you to the Monmouth County
Historical Commission. The commission awarded us a grant to repair the
structural damage to three WWII wooden structures. This will enable us
to have 9029, 9031 and 9034 ready for the next steps...electric, HVAC,
insulation, sheetrock and some paint. In the past the commission has
helped us replace the roof on the TIROS building and repair the roof
damage to the 9006 WWII addition. Chairman Mike R., Dan L. Karin C. and
I attended the award meeting to thank the commissioners.

3) Thanks to Steve M., Chairman Mike R., BOT vice-chair Claire F.
guidance from Jeff S. of Congressman Smith's office we have filed an
Appropriations request. If we get this money, this will 'save the
day'. We will be able to stop the water leaks and fix the roof damage
to the remaining H-buildings, re roof 9013 and 9004. A leaking roof is
the cancer of historic buildings. The funds will also enable us to put
HVAC, repair the electric and plumbing in 9010 B, C, and D. We have
two bids for the HVAC in 9010 D and are looking for more to get the best
price/value.

4) The weather has be a major challenge this year. Snow was cleared
due to the many nasty storms. Thank you to Mike G. for the equipment.
The operators: Mike G., Steve G., John T., Joe G., Pete R., Kyle B. and
other did a great job with our plows, gas snow throwers and human
powered snow shovels. The parking lot was so clean only the painted
lines were left. Thanks to Nels who managed the work, made equipment
repairs and even called in reinforcements. This saved us lots of money
and we did not have to ask Wall Township Public Works for help. They
had the entire town to worry about. Dan J., Kyle B., DJ and others have
begun clearing the dozens of tree limbs that fell due to the snow.
Let's keep our fingers crossed that there are no March snow falls.

4) The lights in the TIROS building, 9162, are all re-wired and the lens
covers are back in place on 75 lights. Yes, seventy-five ceiling
lights. The room looks nearly identical to the April 1960 photos
published in National Geographics magazine. We have made the ceiling
sheet rock repairs. The first coat of joint compound is on. Plumbing
next. We moved lots of stuff out of the building to our main campus.
The TIROS anniversary is April 1st and the birth of hurricane tracking
the 9th. We will celebrate on Sunday the 11th at 2 PM. Sadly, no one
from NASA, NOAA, the weather channel or news 12 have replied to any
emails asking for a speaker. So we will us in house resources.

5) In 9032 the EW room is all ready. John C. spent hours in the room
doing preparation for the exhibit.

6) The restored WWII restrooms in 9032B & C passed inspection by our
Wall Township building inspector. Thank you to Steve G. and Mark C. of
C & H Plumbing for meeting the inspector.

7) The Monroe Township Veterans Council will be visiting with 25 WWII
Vets. Ray C. is coordinating this.

8) Able, Michele and the Blossom volunteers are breaking all records
with enhanced museum attendance thanks to the Disney ticket program.
Able and Michele are spending lots of time sorting and inventorying the
donations for foster children ‘Care-packs’ and the many excellent
programs Blossom hosts. One evening I left them at 10 PM and they
worked until 4 AM. This effort has brought us more supplies than we
could have imagined. Blossom has reached an amazing milestone and
accomplishment. They have supplied Care-packs to every DYFS office in
the state of NJ, plus additional care items for foster children. This
is an amazing accomplishment.

9) We have a number of Eagle Scouts at work. Alex Lo's project to
repair the exterior of 9029 was approved by council. Zack visited on
Sunday with his plans to expand our river front trails to Watson Road.
We hope the council approves his proposal.

10) BOT member Bob G. is making great progress on The Book. Bob has
better resolution digital copies of the photos he has selected for
publication. Thank you to helpers like BOT member Larry Tormey for the
editing.

11) Dan L. has created a set of Edward Henderson posters for a traveling
exhibit. They are on display in Wall townhall.

12) Dan L. reminds us your articles for the next InfoAge Marconigraph /
InfoAge Signaleer are due by midnight March 31st .

13) If you do not know, we have a bald eagle nest on Camp Evans. Net,
please honor the 'Endangered Species Area' signs and give the eagle
family room to raise young.

14) Remember to send your calendar entries to Webmaster John via email –
calendar@InfoAge.org Thank you to John
for setting up the google calendar and many other web improvements.

15) It is amazing how many memberships have expired. Get your $25 in
to help us with this good cause. Michele R., Terry L., Steve M., and
other members of the membership committee met on Monday.

16) Joe G. has the hotel copies working again. Thank you Joe.

17) The NJARC members and others are helping find information on the
industries in the1945 list of NJ companies who earned the Army-Navy E –
award . We have information on 25 companies so far. We hope to reach
out to them for donations in the near future.

18) We took deliver of six large glass front 72" tall cabinets for the
Wall Township archive room. Thia way we can keep the bound issues of
the Wall Herald and other items of the town and Old Wall Historical
Society safe for research by residents.

19) Thank you to Able, Michelle and Bella for washing and cleaning the
9093 hallway. Also to Steve G. for straighting the 9093 office. We all
need to make an effort to keep 9093, the hotel lounge and other public
places looking better.

20) We are hoping the bill to name Camp Evans the state of NJ Living
Memorial will be introduced by State Senator Sean Kean. We need to
prepare an information package and possibly have some of our posters
ready as ww will get short notice on when the request is accepted and
will be acted upon.

These past two Sunday was super busy with lots of visitors and families.
On site were Dave Sica, Dave Sn., Phil V. Ray & Edith C., Marsha & Jerry
S., Harry K.and others in the NJARC museum. Steve G., John T., and Joe
G were all over the place as usual. Jeff F. and Evan K had the MARCH
exhibit open. Neil N., Dan and Terry L. had the NJHDA shipwreck museum
open. Able & Michele R., Bella R., Jake D. and conscripted visitors
were sorting, inventorying and moving the hundreds of Blossom
donations. Dan J. and sons were in the computer deconstruction lab.
JoAnne and Cicely were in the lobby.

I know I missed lots of folks and work actions - sorry. The last two
weeks were also crazy. Good crazy with good progress

I hope to see you at this meeting to help make more progress. It is up
to us to make historic Camp Evans a place of public benefit service that
is honoring to those who served there.

*Reasons to tell persons why to donate (via check or PayPal) to our
effort NOW: *
1) Saves an incredibly historic site
2) Honors WWII Signal Corps and Honor Front veterans
3) Helps education by inspiring kids to learn science
4) Furthers the development of a NJ Shore tourist destination.
5) Will create full and part-time employment
6) Improves property values in the North Wall and Shark River area.
7) We are the White House recognized stewards of the Camp Evans Historic
District and now it is under our protection for future generations

**No Passion = No Progress. We have passion and we are progressing -
even if it is tough sometimes.**
If we do not tell kids what great things others have done to improve our
nation how can we expect them to know what they are capable of.

Thank you,
Fred
