Missed the report for prior week so this is for two weeks.

Dave Snellman. Ron is digging out the holes for the guard shack piers,
work continues on the communications room, Harry stringing lights in
9312, moved Atwater Kent radio to guard shack (radio is working),
repaired non operational alarm phone line (problem in telephone
exchange), Wall science kids did planning for Exploratorium exhibits
they are going to work on, cleaned toilets.
Aug. 11 - Present were: Al K., Ray C., Dave Snellman, John Tyminski,
Harry K. and Steve R. Harry K. applied 4 patches to roof of 9312 and
then worked with one science kid (only one could make it this date) to
start work on the "hand battery" display piece. Others worked on
communications room display and moving of drawings from A section to
upstairs in hotel.
Al K. will be only one present on the 18th as several of us are at AWA
convention and Harry K. is on vacation.

A report from Joe G.
This week, I did a good deal of work in the telcom building. I cleared
the second room in order to make necessary repairs. I moved three
plugboard PBX's from 9006 to a staging area in the H building to get
them ready for display. I also received a donation for the telcom museum
of several telephones, including some odd Automatic Electric ones.
Theres probably more, but I don't know what right now.

Joe

***All reports welcomed -

*** What a weekend - Symposium, a Eagle Scout court of Honor, two Eagle
projects in the works and mighty amounts of work to have our site and
buildings looking great.

The first WWII Symposium was a success due to John Cervini's
leadership. We have over 45 attendees. The lectures were enjoyed by
all. The artifacts and new poster exhibit complemented the day.

Thanks to Nels, Pete, Joe G, Mike G. John T. and Steve G. for mowing the
lawns, edging, cleaning the parking lot, waxing the dining room floor
with many coats of wax, shampooing the hotel carpets, washing the 9032A
floor and getting the chairs, getting the audio set up, putting up signs
and more. Thank you to Judy for staffing the entrance booth.

Thanks to Dan L. for getting all our Camp Evans Service Branch Manual
posters printed and hung in the 9032 halls. Thanks to Bob P. for getting
the hallway lights in place and Joe G. for finding fixtures that look
close to the original.
Thanks to the speakers: Ray Chase, Dan Lieb/Cptain Dan Crowell, John
Cervini, Al Klase, Fred Carl and Evan Koblentz.
Thank you to Steve G. for helping Alex Lo's mom with all the eagle court
of honor preparation.
A special thanks to Mike G. for providing food, refreshments and coffee
for the event.
--It was a great day thanks to the work of many - named above and many
who helped without being seen.

*The placemats are getting results
*The Haunted Hotel is making progress - It would be nice to get a report
of all the fine work many are up to.
*Joe G. is making progress in the telephone exchange building
*Thank you to Joe G. for finding the great rolling ladder and two pallet
jacks for $100 - a steal - Thanks to Steve and Joe for going to Brick to
get them.

* State Senate Bill SCR85, sponsored by Sean Kean, recognizing Camp
Evans as a WWII Menorial has been approved by the Senate committee for
Veteran Affairs. I drove over to Trenton to say a few words in support
and meet the committee members. Next step it to get it onto the agenda
for a full Senate vote.

*The BOT had a very productive meeting on Monday. At 2 PM I reviewed my
vision and possibilities for our center with new trustees. At 4PM the
entire board met. Bob's book is being printed. Good progress by Lynn
L. B. on the Wall of Honor event.
Sorry for the items I have not gotten to list. Please email me things
you have done I have missed***

*Reasons to tell persons why to donate (via check or PayPal) to our
effort NOW: *
1) Saves an incredibly historic site
2) Honors WWII Signal Corps and Honor Front veterans
3) Helps education by inspiring kids to learn science
4) Furthers the development of a NJ Shore tourist destination.
5) Will create full and part-time employment
6) Improves property values in the North Wall and Shark River area.
7) We are the White House recognized stewards of the Camp Evans Historic
District and now it is under our protection for future generations

**No Passion = No Progress. We have passion and we are progressing -
even if it is tough sometimes.**
If we do not tell kids what great things others have done to improve our
nation how can we expect them to know what they are capable of.

Thank you,
Fred
