attraction, a place for education, a living memorial and a place of
historic preservation.

May 9th - Sunday - 5:30PM InfoAge helps Wall Kiwanis at the Wall Stadium
50/50 raffle. Please let me know if you can help. This is fun
especially if you like auto racing.
The club has supported InfoAge for years. Until we received gifts
from large multi-national corporations the Wall Kiwanis was our best
support when few others had faith in us.
June 6th - Wall of Honor event - Details coming soon.
This past week was action packed.
On April 29th - We will hosted the Monmouth/Ocean counties PTA
presidents meeting in our hotel. They liked the place and it is up to
us the involve them more fully in InfoAge to help their kids and schools.

A big thanks to all you who helped make the May 2nd InfoAge auction a success, too many to mention by name. Those who helped pick up the stuff and schlep it around at infoAge, (especially up the ramp from the hotel basement, it seemed easy taking it down, not so easy coming up, we won't make that mistake again, all storage henceforth will be ground level). Those who set up and ran the food concession; who repaired ceiling lights at the eleventh hour; those who did an accurate and speedy job of clerking; registration and cashiering; all those who showed up bright and early Saturday to be runners and parking lot attendants; and not to forget those who brought money and hauled everything away. We also need to especially thank Richard & John Estes who came from Ohio to Auctioneer. Also our InfoAge friends who provided all kinds of assistance in big and small ways. Just under 400 lots were sold in four hours and twenty minutes. The gross sales totaled just over $10,000, WOW!
It will take a few days to crunch all the numbers to figure out the distribution of the proceeds. Hope everybody had at least a little fun and got some goodies to take home.

Fellow enthusiasts, I want to echo the thanks Ray Chase has expressed to all NJARC volunteer members participating in this past Saturday's Mega auction at InFoAge.
BUT, he left out the most significant volunteer.....Himself! Without Rays' foresight, this auction would have never come together. All those "treasures" we took home Saturday, would still be stashed in all corners of InFo Age. Most of us have no Idea, the amount of time and planning it took, and the invitation of a professional auctioneer....Brilliant! Our hats off to Ray Chase! Regards, Richard Lee President NJARC
May I add my thanks to Ray, the entire NJARC, Richard and John Estes, and Wall Township for issuing the auction permit. I loved seeing the excess radios/etc going into the hands of people who will care for them rather them sitting in our storage. We can only display so much.
On May 2nd - Ship Wreck Symposium - An email from Dan Leib:

First, let me thank everyone for making this year's symposium a success!
We received very little criticism and loads of compliments. The museum
received high praises. We profited only a little under what I'd hoped,
but we made enough to keep going for another year. While I heard only
a few of folks say they thought the wreck montage was a little long, I
heard as many say they loved it. Any more people in the room and the
sight lines would have been bad. Those were the only two criticisms I
heard - and I polled a lot of folks. Everyone said the second half was
even more interesting than the first - and they liked both halves. They
all liked the host, the artwork, the ROVs, and all of the speakers. Good
show!
Tina, you did a great job hosting. You made it your own. Well done!
Harry, you got a lot of compliments. Folks liked the talk very much.
Steve and Maureen, the last was the best. The women of NE diving was a hit!
Several already volunteered to help with next year's event. Some came up
to me and said they liked the event very much and were already looking
forward to next year's symposium. We are consistent!
Whether you helped a little or a lot, you all did a great job and you
have my eternal gratitude.

The May 2nd & - May 3rdWeekend in Old Monmouth -
This event was bigger and better than last year. We enjoyed over double
the attendance over last year.
We also enjoyed a visit by Mr. Randall Gabrielan, Executive Director and
Ms. Ellen Terry, Commissioner of the Monmouth County Historical
Commission.
Thanks to this event we expect more persons to join as members.
The May 3rd - NJ Hall of Fame Installs Marconi - Thanks to Linda P. and
Don Jay Smith of the New Jersey Hall of Fame I was asked to represent
our hero G. Marconi at the gala event.
Bernie R. provided photos and information on Marconi for the
introduction video. Bernie and Dot also at the event.
The Hall of Fame mentioned InfoAge in the event program and had a photo
of the NJARC Radio Technology museum in the Marconi Video.
I did my best to represent us in a three minute talk on Monconi.
Backstage I reminded the Governor that as soon as the NPS elevates Camp
Evans to National Historic Landmark Status we will provide him the
information to make the public announcement.
Many others persons, for example Bon Jovi, Southside Johnny, Bill
Bradley, Yogi Berra, Mayor Dinkins, Avery Brooks, Buzz Aldrin and Bruce
Springsteen's Mom have our InfoAge bookmark.
BTW, a number of persons have told me Bruce Springsteen's Dad worked at
Camp Evans, in the REMBAS program. His Mom says he worked at Earle
Naval Weapons Depot. Case closed.

We are in Emergency Stabilization mode now. We are attacking worse first.
We are making progress. I believe we have eliminated the major safety
hazards
We face the challenges of keeping the momentum of our regular activities
increasing and meeting the challenges of the additional grounds and
buildings.
*During the week... and weekend...*
---Nels W. and Pete R. went above - their normal above and beyond.
They mowed and "weed wacked" all around the hotel and 9032 so visitors
to the auction, shipwreck symposium and weekend at old Monmouth would be
impressed with the site - and they were.
----Then if that was not enough Nels cut nearly the entire new area
around the 'H' buildings and moved all sorts of stuff to improve the
look of the new area. Pete greeted visitors both Saturday and Sunday in
the Hotel.
- We discovered a hole in the boiler building (9033) roof. It it
repaired and the building re-roofed.
- We re-roofed the WW2 Firehouse (9031), the 60' by 60' WW2 Guard
Headquarters (9029) and the boiler building between them (9030). This
makes four more buildings that will not leak. Our total for the month
is 8 - yes eight buildings re-roofed.
- The Green Monster 7-UP soda machine has returned. It is in the Gate
one entrance building. Give it a dollar and you will get the soda of
your choice.
- Dan J. has been improving the Computer eduction center

In a review of the National Historic Landmark theme studies our site
could qualify for NHL status under three studies.

The 'WW2 and the Homefront' study recommends Camp Evans as a potential NHL.
The Marconi Belmar Station could fit under the 'Travel and
Communications' theme in the wireless area.
The test of the regenerative circuit, Weagant's static elimination
advances and the Navy WWI communications center make the site NHL
significant.
Under the 'Man in Space' theme the TIROS ground control center, the
TLM-18 antenna, the mini-track calibration center, satellite tracking
starting with Sputnik, Explorer, Pioneer V and all US and Soviet
launches should qualify under the 'satellite tracking facilities chapter.

Preserve America Steward organization. Wall Township is a Preserve

President Barack Obama signed the Omnibus Public Land Management Act of
2009 on March 30, which included authorization for Preserve America and
Save America's Treasures grants.
***** I will be asking someone to research these grants. I did one
grant for Save America in 2002 and one for Preserve America in 2005
(lots of paper) - but when they called about the status of the transfer
- all I could tell them way sorry the transfer has been delayed. As of
March 24th 4PM that all changed....and the bill was signed on the 30th...
*Reasons to tell persons why to donate to our effort NOW: *
1) Saves an incredibly historic site
2) Honors WWII Signal Corps and Honor Front veterans
3) Helps education by inspiring kids to learn science
4) Furthers the development of a NJ Shore tourist destination.
5) Will create full and part-time employment
6) Improves property values in the North Wall and Shark River area.
7) We are the White House recognized stewards of the Camp Evans Historic
District and now it is under our protection for future generations

If we do not tell kids what great things others have done to improve our
nation how can we expect them to know what they are capable of.
Please remind me of things of have overlooked in this email. Please
excuse they items I have missed. No slight intended.
I get annoyed with myself as I ride up the Parkway to work and recall
many a good thing persons have done and I lost in my rush to get the
email out.
Another aspect of this is so many of you are doing so many things, I can
not keep up. In a way this is good.
This weekend (if it stops raining) we will really really really finish
the scratch coat on 9006. I purchased new concrete tools, so no need to
find the old ones. Steve has bags of sand mix somewhere...
